“NTPC Green Energy is a government-backed contracted renewable developer with an exceptional multi-decade reinvestment runway inside India's sovereign energy transition mandate, a real but narrow cost-of-capital moat, and annuity-style PPA revenues — structurally adequate as a business. However, at 168x trailing and 68x forward P/E on a sub-5% ROE base, the stock prices near-perfect 60 GW execution that has no historical precedent, leaves zero margin of safety, and prices in none of the PSU governance limitations or execution risk that any realistic minority shareholder must underwrite. Probability-weighted 10-year returns of 2–3x barely clear the hurdle rate. This deserves a watchlist entry, not capital today.”
